Imphal, February 15 2009: Countering the allegations of the proscribed UPPK that FCS Minister Y Erabot had siphoned off sugar and given them to one Ch Amuba to be ultimately sold to one Santosh Godwal, IMC Councillor of Ward number 23 and representatives of 13 groups of Mobile Sale today said that the sugar was sold by women mobile sellers to consumers in the 7 Assembly segments of IMC.

Speaking to the media at the residence of the Councillor L Memcha at Telipati today, the women mobile sellers said that the allegations that the FCS Minister disposed off 100 quintals of sugar at his AC and gave away the remaining stock to his security escort and one Ch Amuba which in turn was sold to Santosh Gadwal is wrong and baseless.

The women said that economically backward women had formed 13 groups and sold 900 quintal of sugar as mobile sellers in different parts including Khurai, Thangmeiband, Thongju, Sagolband, Yaiskul, Keishamthong and Singjamei.

The fact can be ascertained by finding out whether there were mobile sale of sugar or not, they contended.

The service of Ch Amuba was roped in by the women sellers to procure sugar, they maintained.

Santosh Gadwal who was present said that he has not received even a Kg of sugar from the FCS Minister and added that he has never met Ch Amuba.
