Imphal, October 08 2025:
Sah-Sampark Pramukh of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Bharat Bhushan, has called upon the academic and student community in Manipur to adopt a Swadeshi lifestyle and take pride in India's history and cultural heritage.
"The RSS does not preach to others; it leads by example through its own actions," Bharat Bhushan said while addressing a special lecture on '100 Years Journey of RSS and the Road Map Ahead' held at the Court Hall of Manipur University.
The event was jointly organised by the College Development Council, Manipur University; Seva Bharati Purbanchal; Seva Bharati Manipur; Manipur Seva Samiti; and the Intellectual Forum of North East-Manipur.

During his address, Bharat Bhushan highlighted the 100-year journey of the RSS since its inception in 1925 and stated that the organisation has set five key goals for.
social transformation in its centenary year viz Samajik Samarasta (Social Harmony) to eliminate social discrimination and build an equitable, cohesive society; Kutumb Prabodhan (Family Awakening) to strengthen family values and responsibilities within the traditional Indian family system; Paryavaran (Environmental Awareness) to promote eco-friendly habits and sustainable practices such as tree plantation and water conservation; Swa (Selfhood) to encourage National consciousness rooted in Indian values and cultural pride, with a focus on Swadeshi and self-reliance and Nagrik Kartavya (Civic Duty), to instill a sense of responsibility and duty towards the Nation and its Constitution.
He emphasised that any kind of inequality in society should be eliminated.
"We are all one - how can we discriminate on the basis of caste, creed, geography, or religion? As the Sarsanghchalak of RSS has said, all Hindus are the people living in the region between the Himalayas and the Indian Ocean," he remarked.
Speaking on environmental concerns, Bharat Bhushan lamented that society has not cared enough for nature.
"Our Shastras have given us all the solutions, but we have failed to follow those precious words.
We must consume with restraint, but instead, we are consuming more and more," he said, urging everyone to plant at least one tree every year and to stop using single-use plastics.
He noted that while many ancient civilizations have vanished, Bharat's civilization continues to thrive because of its strong family system, which preserves social and cultural values.
"But nowadays, that system is under threat.
Family disputes have increased due to lack of communication.
We are so busy on mobile phones that we hardly talk to our family members.
We must disconnect from our phones to reconnect with our families and friends.
Start by simply asking, 'How was your day?' - it will make a big difference," he added.
"We, the RSS swayamsevaks, are working on these values," Bharat Bhushan said, reaffirming that the RSS believes in action rather than rhetoric, demonstrating its ideals through service, discipline, and selfless work for society.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor of Manipur University, Prof Naorem Lokendra Singh, reiterated that Bharat is rich in natural and human resources, but much of it was destroyed during the rule of the Mughals.
Nawabs, Zamindars, and Jagirdars used the wealth for constructing grand Mosques and pursuing a lavish lifestyle.
In contrast, he noted, western countries used their resources-many of which were looted from India and other colonies-for industrialisation and economic advancement.
Prof Lokendra emphasised the need for India's youth and academic community to rediscover and utilise the country's abundant indigenous resources for Nation-building and self-reliance.
