Imphal, December 06 2009: A meeting of school founders, teachers and parents held today at Koirengei has resolved to call upon parents to extend their maximum efforts to bring justice to the July 23 killings.

Urging the agitating organisations to introspect once more, the meet proposed joint effort to enable students attend class at the soonest.

The meeting decided on expanding the existing adhoc committee and entrusting the expanded committee to implement the common resolutions.

The meeting organised by the All Manipur Parents' and Teachers' Association was attended by its convenor and Principal of EK Hr Sec School P Saratchandra as president and founder of Hundred Flower Hr Sec School MA Rehman as chief guest.

MA Rehman said that schools need to be re-opened under an understanding with the agitating organisations in order to save the career of students.

Saying that the ongoing Judicial Enquiry would establish the truth of the Khwairamband killing, Rehman said that slowing down the Enquiry process would mean delaying Government action.

P Saratchandra said that the ongoing class boycott has no impact in the five hill districts.

Majority of schools in Thoubal and Bishnupur districts are also conducting normal classes.

The same is the case with Government schools in Imphal East and Imphal West districts, he asserted.

But Government schools do not have the capacity to cater to the needs of all the students.

In the North, schools located beyond Awang Postshangbam have reopened.

In the South, schools have reopened starting from Lilong, Saratchandra said while cautioning that such inconsistency may affect integrity.

Abstinence from education means going back to the stone age.

It is suggestive of living like animals, he said.

Conceding that earlier meeting of parents and teachers to bring students back to schools have failed, Saratchandra exuded that efforts of the teachers and parents can be successful if they work jointly.
