Imphal, Jul 04: Strongly refuting the allegations of the PLA that Menaka was an informer of the security forces and was therefore eliminated, PIB Defence Wing in a statement today said that the contention of the outfit is baseless and a figment of the imagination.

After committing such a dastardly act as killing a woman, PLA is resorting to the practice of labelling the victim as an informer after killing her, said the statement and added that the CO of 21 Assam Rifles visited the bereaved family members on humanitarian ground to share their pain and grief as anyone would have done in case of death in the neighbourhood.

The statement further said that meira paibis and many social organisations have also condemned the act of PLA.

A rally was organised which was attended by 2000 people including representatives of 38 meira paibi organisations and other social organisations of Wangoo Laipham Heinoujam, Sagang and Wangoo Tera, added the statement.

Many meira paibi leaders have also strongly condemned the killing of Menaka and demanded befitting punishment of the all those involved in the killing added PIB.

Having suffered major set backs, the outfit targeted innocent people to give vent to their frustration, added the statement.
