Imphal, Sep 02: In yet another case of duping desperate job seekers, four young girls, three nurses and one laboratory technician, who were recruited in the Newtech Nursing Home located at Thangal Bazar Allu Galli after having deposited their money were not only allegedly denied of their promised stipend/salary but were also engaged in household chores and made to attend meeting sessions of the Amway company.

Disclosing this while talking to mediapersons at Manipur Press Club here today, Athokpam Sumatibala, one of the victimised nurses, informed that one Memcha from Porompat and one Kiran from Khabam Lamkhai told her about joining as a nurse in the said clinic.

At the time of joining the service, Sumatibala disclosed she had given a deposit amount of Rs 15,000 to Dr Damayenti, wife of Dr Sekhojit, who is the proprietor of the clinic and had been assured that she would be given stipend during the first three months of training after which she would be paid the monthly salary.

In similar manner, two other nurses namely Sanasam Mala and Yumlembam Binita and one Laboratory technician namely Thongbam Jamuna also joined the clinic in the first week of May on different dates through Memcha after having deposited Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 18,000 respectively, Sumatibala informed.

However, contrary to the assurances given, no stipend were paid to them and instead of engaging them in their appointed posts, they were made to do household chores like washing and floor-up, Sumatibala said, adding that they were also made to take part in the meeting sessions of Amway company by the doctor couple.

Sumatibala said that they remained quite when stipend were not paid to them during the training period.

But when they were denied their salary even after the training period of three months was over, they protested and complained.

Instead of listening to their complaint, Dr Damayenti used harsh words against them and insisted they should work from 6 am to 7 pm if they want salary, the victimised nurse said.

Sumantibala further said when they finally demanded refund of the deposited amount, Dr Damayenti bluntly retorted that she had not taken any money and they can do whatever they want.

All the four duped job seekers told mediapersons that they would like to take back the deposited money and said they would not like other job seekers to face the same sort of ordeals.
