Imphal, July 02: A number of Tangkhul civil society organisations and student bodies have strongly condemned the murder of William Shiro alias Phuchian, a contractor of the PWD on June 29.In a joint statement, the TNL, TKS, , TMNL, TSL and Tangkhul Naga Wungnao Long said the late Puchian was abducted by unidentified persons and added that such a cowardly killing is highly condemnable and unwarranted in the modern civilised world.

The civil societies have also appealed to groups involved in the killing to clarify the reasons behind the dastardly murder.

The Government has also been urged to take up necessary action and to book the culprits as well as to pay a sum of Rs 5 lakhs as ex-gratia to the family of the deceased.

The Tangkhul Naga Contractors' Long has also strongly condemned the murder of the contractor.

In a statement the contractors' body alleged that one mobile phone and Rs 50,000 were taken away from the deceased by the killers.

Appealing to all social organisations to condemn such dastardly killing, the statement also urged the Government to book the culprits and grant adequate ex-gratia to the family members of the deceased.

William Shiro of Chongdan village in Kasom Khullen sub-division of Ukhrul district was found killed at Chingmeirong Cheirao Ching on June 29.
