Imphal, Jun 01:
Barely 24 hours after the observation of International Week of Disappearance concluded at Kangla Auditorium yesterday, reports received by the press suggest a new chapter to the bitter lesson of losing one's loved one.
the latest addition to the long list of involuntarily disappeared persons is the information of one Khwairakpam Biren alias Deven s/o Tamphajao of Sekmai Awang Leikai who has been missing since May 15 after he reportedly left home for Imphal at around 3.30 pm.
There is still no clue to the whereabouts of the 28 year old Biren days after the matter had been intimated to police with details on the colour (purple) and registration number (MN01/N5726) of the Bajaj Pulsar motor-cycle which he rode on that fateful day.
Attempts to establish contact through his mobile phone (9436211600) also proved elusive as the gadget has been switched-off, informed some family members who were taking part in a sit-in-protest along with local womenfolk at Sekmai Keithel today appealing for the safe and early release of the youth.
According to president of Advance Women Society, Awang Sekmai Angom Ongbi Shanti Devi more protest sessions would be staged until Biren returns home while not ruling out intense mode of agitation to persist with the demand.
The protestors also informed of Biren engaged in small time contract works after completing graduation from an institute outside the State some two years back.
He is said to be dressed in faded jean and cream-coloured shirt with about a sum of Rs 5000 when he left home.
grief-stricken Tamphajao also recalled of his son never failing to contact the family through phone or message from his friends whenever he leaves home for prolonged period which was not the case this time around.
Biren neither had grudge with anybody nor his association with any UG organisation is remotely impossible, expressed the father.
He further appealed to all concerned to provide an opportunity on humanitarian ground to mend any mistake, if any, his son might have committed.
