Reiterating that Dr Lunkim was not abducted but summoned in connection with a case relating to the outfit and Kuki politics in which he had meddled with without consulting anybody, Kuki Liberation Army (KLA) has categorically stated that the hue and cry from any angle before the investigation is completed is not necessary.
In a statement, information and publicity secretary Malsom Kuki warned all concerned not to interfere in the internal affairs of the outfit if they do not want any unwanted incident to happen.
In response to the appeal made by Mrs C Lunkim for the safe release of her husband, the outfit stated point bank 'we are not ignorant of what your husband has done.
We had also considered him to be a person truly devoted to the service of the Church, but he had involved himself in politics and what is worst of all was he had been busy trying to assassinate us politically which is indeed an unpardonable sin'.
'This is not simply an allegation but based on solid fact.
We don't need to be reminded of his activities in the field of Church but its all about his selfish politics', the KLA statement said.
Giving strong warning against some people who are trying to mess up situation by bringing up issue randomly with the purpose of tarnishing the image of the outfit, Malsom said the truth of the matter is not abduction for ransom but a penalty (fine) in lieu of capital punishment which Dr Lunkim rightfully deserved.
Malsom further made it clear that KLA has given due regard and respect to the appeals and prayers of social leaders and according the verdict of death sentence to Dr Lunkim has been changed into a moderate fine.
