Imphal, October 21 (NNN):
The All Zeliangrong Students' Union (AZSU) has warned that things may blow out of proportion if the State Government does not address the MBBS/BDS-2003 entrance examination issue with regard to the fate of the SC/ST students of that batch.
The AZSU in a release issued by its public relation secretary Asinpou Riamei stated that the fate of the 19 MBBS/BDS students of 2003 batch belonging to SC/ST category was yet to be finalised.
The statement while mentioning the recent Court order stated that the Supreme Court interim order of September 27, 2005 has raised a number of questions.
It said that the interim order of the countrys apex Court has dented the Constitutional provision of the reservation for SC/ST candidates.
The AZSU statement further said that though the order was an interim one it had nevertheless put serious hindrance in implementing the Constitutional provision of selecting SC/ST and other categories of the reserved sections".
The order upheld the plea of the petitioners who belong to the general category and who have been challenging the validity of the selection of SC/ST candidates and also candidates from the meritorious sports persons and children of army personnel who had been already selected in the entrance examination from their respective categories, reasoned the AZSU statement.
