Bail moved, Dr Palin seeks clarifications

Imphal, February 13: Even as the Duty Magistrate remanded the five persons picked up yesterday in connection with the seizure of Rs 9.20 lakhs to police custody till February 16, Managing Director of Shija Hospitals and Research Centre, Dr Kh Palin today said that the police should clarify why they were arrested in the first place.

Interacting with media persons at Babina Diagnostic Centre today, Dr Palin said that as the five were picked up on suspicion, the police should spell out the reason for their arrests.

The five persons include the Assistant Manager (Projects) of Shija Hospitals, B Bishorjit Sharma, Marketing Manager of Babina Kh Samochandra, Assistant Manager of Chamber of Commerce hospital Vikash Veshnet, Manager of Imphal Hospital Ch Surendra and Assistant Manager of Leirik Memorial Hospital W Debakishore.

Dr Palin informed the media that they have moved bail to get the accused released and added that since they have been picked up on suspicion, it is for the law to decide.

He also reminded all of the immense role of private clinics in providing quality medical treatment.
