The Imphal East district police authorities produced arms, empty cases and projectiles said to have been used in the controversial Nongren shoot-out that led to the demise of one K Bimol of Moirang.
The arms and ammos were placed before the K Bimol Inquiry Commission constituted to probe the killing involving commandos of Imphal East district in the December 29, 2004 incident.
The arms and ammos produced before the panel headed by C Upendra yesterday include six AK series rifles along with the empty cases and projectiles in sealed cover.
The Commission on the same day had sent the same sealed materials to the State Forensic Science Laboratory located at Pangei for ballistic study, panel sources said explaining that the ballistic experts would match the projectiles and.
empty cases with the guns to authenticate whether the projectiles were actually fired from the produced guns.
Informing that the ballistic study report would be resubmitted to the panel very soon, the source conveyed of the Commission along with counsels of all parties and ballistic experts to conduct second and final spot assessment on the case on April 4.With the exception of the forthcoming spot study and examination of a ISTV reporter, the probe panel is all set to prepare its report, the source added.
In the meantime, C Upendra, who is also heading the judicial inquiry to ascertain facts and circumstances leading to the death of three Kuki students last year will hear the final arguments tomorrow.
