In a significant development, a team from the Department of North Eastern Region (DONER) paid a surprise visit to Ukhrul district headquarters today and inspected the work progress of the projects taken up under the Centrally Sponsored scheme of the non-lapsable pool which has already been sanctioned.
The team headed by Joint Secretary, Dr Hari Khrishna, Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), Government of India, alongwith A Luikham, Commissioner Planning, Govt of Manipur, Dr Prem Singh, Director YAS, Govt of Manipur, Aleng Shimrah, Joint Director YAS and the DC Ukhrul Y Jugindro Singh inspected the works.
The team was warmly received at the Tangkhul Naga Long ground with traditional Tangkhul shawls and bouquets from the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), Principal Forum of Educational Institutions (PREFEI) and Ukhrul District Sports Association (UDSA).
The team had an interaction with the headman Ukhrul and representatives of TKS, HKL etc.
During the inspection tour , the DONER official expressed dissatisfaction over the construction of a class room measuring 30x30 ft which was built of at an estimated cost of Rs 5.58 lacs.
