Ukhrul, September 29: Under the theme of 'But you are a chosen generation', Phungyo Baptist Church (PBC) observed its 108th foundation day today.

The observance function was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Rishang Keishing as chief guest and former Chief Secretary of Delhi Wungmareo Shaiza, IAS as guest of honour.

In the morning before the congregation stepped inside the Church, the chief guest hoisted the white flag of PBC Church while the guest of honour unveiled the foundation stone of the memorial hall of the Church to be constructed in memory of its founder William Pettigrew.

Speaking at the foundation day function, Keishing said that PBC being the first and the oldest church amongst the Manipur Baptist churches deserved to be glorified at the highest level.

Not only the people of Ukhrul but the whole of Tangkhul should celebrate this day in one God, one faith and one hope, he added.

Keishing further said that oneness and forgiveness among each other is the immediate need of the present generation.

W Shaiza said that the observance of the 108th foundation day of PBC is a symbolic event that should be cherished by all the people.

The function was attended by various village pastors, Reverends, Baptist missionaries, youth leaders, social workers from all over the district.
