Imphal, January 29 2009:
Coming out strongly against the conduct of the Government in targeting the hapless teachers and Principals who failed to participate in the Republic Day celebration following threats from UGs, All Manipur Joint Government Higher Secondary Students' Union has set February 2 as the deadline for the unconditional release of the arrested Principals and the teachers.
In a statement, president of the student body Th Premananda Singh informed that in case the Government fails to meet the demand, then all the students in Manipur may be compelled to stay away from Government run schools and surrender their text books to the Government.
The student body also questioned the logic of targeting the hapless Principals and the teachers while security is being been tightened around the bungalow of the CM following threat perception from UGs.
