The proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) organised various programmes at its CHQ and some parts of the world as a part of its Independence Demand Day observance on February 25. A statement issued by the outfit's Department of Publicity chief GM Changjou said presentation of patriotic songs, sports events, obituaries to departed souls of RPF and other UG groups, and hoisted of party flag by the RPF president Irengbam Chaorel marked the occasion.
Moreover, civilians who have either been killed or maimed during the course of the sustained movement and deliberation sessions on international laws, atrocities committed by Central and State security forces were the other highlight of the observance, the statement informed.
Changjou further stated that Irengbam Chaorel's exhortation to the cadres to sustain the movement until the political objective is achieved and detailed presentation of the history of Manipur as well as the society's future also figured prominently at the occasion, during which hardships being endured by the media in Manipur was also acknowledged by the RPF.
