To attract potential investors during the North East-India Investment Opportunities Week scheduled to be held at Thailand's capital Bangkok from October 1 to 4 and encourage them to invest in Manipur, the State Government is preparing a profile of the State for presentation during the meet.
On the other hand, instead of coming to Imphal, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh who is currently at New York will go directly to Bangkok to participate in the Bangkok meet after which he would again leave for Tokyo to attend a meeting on Sericulture development.
Disclosing this to The Sangai Express, an official source said that the Commerce and Industries Department of the State Government is preparing a multi-disciplinary profile covering various sectors like power, food processing, tourism, road communication, etc for presentation at the North-East India Investment Opportunities Week to be organised jointly by Indian Chamber of Commerce and Ministry of Commerce of Thailand under the sponsorship of DoNER Ministry at Bangkok from October 1 to 4.Even if Manipur did not benefit much from the North East Business Summits held in the past, the State Government will wprk to ensure that it reaps the benefits by encouraging the investors to invest in Manipur specially in the areas of tourism and power.
Apart from presentation on inland waterway at Loktak lake, adventure tourism, ethnic tourism, horticulture and power projects, etc, the handloom and handicraft products of Manipur will be exhibited and cultural items showcased during the Week.
For participation in the Bangkok Week, the Ministry of External Affairs has invited Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, Power Minister Phungzathang Tonsing, MPCC (I) president and MLA Gaikhangam and Secretary to the CM PK Singh.
Along with them, Principal Secretary of Planning Wajiri, Principal Secretary of Industries PC Lawnkunga, Principal Secretary of Power DS Punia are also among other officials would be participating in the Bangkok meet.
Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh who is currently at New York would directly fly to Bangkok to participate in the meet.
From there he would leave for Tokyo, the capital city of Japan to attend a meeting of the Japanfunded Sericulture Project being taken up in Manipur.
Director of Sericulture, Govt of Manipur Debbratta would also be attending in the meeting at Tokyo.
