Imphal, Jun 22: The Sessions Judge, Th Surbala Devi today sentenced to life a man for murdering his own daughter in 2001.The sentenced man is identified as Oinam Ibomcha alias Meghachandra (30) of Nachou Kha under Bishnupur police station.

Case dossiers said that he killed his five year old daughter, Baby Devi at about 7 pm of January 21, 2001 at his residence with a dao.

Police arrested him and subsequently registered an FIR case u/s 302 of the Indian Penal Code, the dossiers said.

After hearing both the parties the Court had on June 20 convicted the man for murder.

Issuing the ruling, the Court said, that there are evidences that the accused gave different versions at different times and his answers given to different queries were false.

The Court further said, "Having regard to all the circumstances of the case, it appears that life imprisonment will be adequate punishment to be awarded to the convict Oinam Ibomcha.
