Imphal, May 21 2010: Chief Minister O Ibobi today made a call for a concerted effort in fighting and ending terrorism so that peace prevails in the state and development makes headway, on the occasion of the anti-terrorism Day marking the 19th death anniversary of former Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi.

Every matters and issues could be settled through talks.

Everybody should leave the ideology of achieving goals with violence.

Shun violence and let chalk out all issues and problems to the negotiating table, the chief minister said delivering his speech at a state level function held at Manipur secretariat conference hall.

Saying that his ideology is to settle all issues and problems through talks, he said appealing all concerns not leave the ideology of achieving certain demands with violence agitation.

"I always welcome in settling any demands through the negotiating table," he said.

"Violence can bring nothing," Ibobi said adding that the present conflict situation prevailing in Manipur could be settled through dialogues.

Modern civilization is greatly hampered by the terrorism.

Terrorism is threatening to the modern civilization go ahead.

Life of thousands of people has been claimed by the activities of terrorism.

Everybody should join in hand to stand against activities of terrorism, the chief minister said.

Anti-terrorism day is observed all over the country on May 21 every year in commemoration of the killing of the country's former Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi on this day in 1991 .

He was killed in a terrorist attack on this day in Tamil Nadu.

To bring solution to all problems by sitting together was the policy of Rajiv Gandhi, the chief minister said adding that the late Prime Minister was always against bringing solutions through violent means.

The observation function was marked by oath taking by the participants to face terrorism together in one spirit.

Top officials of civil and security setups of the state government attended the occasion.

The Anti-terrorism Day was also observed by various state and district level at the deputy commissioners' offices at different districts of the state.

The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee also observed the Anti-Terrorism day coinciding with the 19th death anniversary of the late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at the Congress Bhavan today with a simple function.

MPCC president, Gaikhangam, Chief Minister, O Ibobi led the party functionaries and workers in offering floral tributes to the portrait of Rajiv Gandhi.

A blood donation camp was also held to mark the occasion at JN Hospital, Imphal.

MPCC remembered its former leader as part of celebration of its 125th foundation of the party in which its president, Gaikhangam presided over the occasion and Chief Minister O Ibobi as Chief Guest.

MLAs and other leaders of the party also attended the celebration.

The chief guest and president opened a blood donation camp in which around 50 women donated blood.

Pledged to eliminate terrorism marked the occasion, a statement of the MPPC signed by convener of Media department said.
