Former MP Dr Lorho Pfoze joins NPP

Imphal, September 16 2025: Former Lok Sabha Member Dr Lorho S Pfoze who was elected from Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency on National People's Front (NPF) ticket has joined the National People's Party (NPP) .

Dr Lorho S Pfoze was formally inducted into NPP at a function held today at Shillong where NPP National president Conrad Sangma unveiled a bust of PA Sangma.

Talking to The Sangai Express, Dr Lorho S Pfoze said that his decision was driven by the political changes brewing in Manipur.

He said that he accumulated a rich experience while working as a member of the NPF and he was grateful for that.

"Being the first political platform of my political journey, I gained a lot of experience from NPF .

However, as I observed deeper, it turned out that NPF is a highly exclusive political party.

The party is exclusive to Nagas.

No man or woman from any other community is a member of the NPF and there is no room for them in the party", Dr Lorho S Pfoze said.

There were times when individuals from other communities came for NPF tickets.

This did not mean they wanted to join the party.

They came for party tickets just because they happened to be close friends or acquaintances of the party leaders.

It was disheartening that the party leaders could not give a meaningful response to such approaches, he said.

"Being the lone NPF MP from Manipur and North East States having too few MPs, our voices were seldom heard at Delhi", the former Lok Sabha Member said.

"I joined the NPP with the hope that there would be more party MPs from different States of the North East and we would be able to raise our voice louder at Delhi", Dr Lorho said.

He said that the NPP National president is a visionary leader though young.

Dr Lorho S Pfoze added that he and Conrad Sangma are known to each other since the past.

Welcoming Dr Lorho, NPP National president Conrad Sangma said that Dr Lorho's experience in public life will further strengthen the party in championing the cause of the North East and its people.

"Dr Lorho brings to the party his experience, wisdom and support base from the State of Manipur.

We are confident that Dr Lorho will be an assent to the party and will work closely to further NPP's mantra of One Voice, one North East", the NPP chief said.

Stating that Manpur has different political dynamics, Conrad Sangma said that Dr Lorho is a figure widely accepted by different communities in Manipur.

Speaking at the function, Dr Lorho said, "We, as indigenous communities, should work together in the region.

The vision of late Pumo Agitok Sangma is an inspiration for us all.

His views were to reach out to all communities in the great Nation.

I look forward to working with this party.

We will reach out to many communities and be as inclusive as possible, always abiding by truth and honesty".

Many NPP MLAs from Manipur including Sheikh Noorul Hassan and Panmei Janghemlung were also present at the function.
