Imphal, September 16:
Ever since DC Pankaj Pal went on leave in the last week of August, the DC office of Ukhrul has more or less remained paralysed creating a lot of hardship to the people whose various works have been delayed due to ineffective functioning and the absence of head of the office.
According to information received from Ukhrul today, in the absence of DC Pankaj Pal, SDO Ukhrul, R Sudhan was entrusted to carry out the works of the office as DC in-charge but the latter had also soon left the office for his training programme.
Eventually, in the absence of the two IAS officers, the CEO of Autonomous District Council, Ningam Chamroy was asked to take charge, but nothing precious had been done so far to lessen the grievances of the people, a source said.
Expressing shock over certain irregularities occurring in the highest office of the district, the source alleged that R Sudhan, the former DC in-charge after his return to resume the work only discovered today at 10.30 am that the DC chamber was still locked and while his driver was in search of the office staff, the chowkidar reached the office only after 11 am.
As it is known to everyone the staff of DC office in Ukhrul usually start their work at 11 am and return home at 2 pm, alleged the source it further alleged and cautioned how could the functioning of such office be effective with hardly three hours of work rendered by the staff.
