Along with rescuing four persons who have been allegedly kept under detention at the head office of All Manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA) located near Keishampat Junction, City Police today arrested some volunteers of AMADA.
According to information received by the press, City Police pulled up one Thangjam Naocha (24) of Khurai Thangjam who sell illicit liquor and runs a drinking joint from Punshi Keithel today morning.
During the course of interrogation, police learnt that some persons are allegedly being detained at the head office of AMADA and subsequently conducted the raid and rescued four persons.
The four persons rescued by the police have been identified as Sarangthem Ngouba (40) s/o Mani of Games Village, Langol; Irungbam Ibochou (50) s/o Iboton of Games Village, Md Sikander (31) s/o late Abdul Zabar of Irong Heibong Makhong Mayai Leikai and Kshetrimayum Joykumar (43) s/o late Ksh Mani of Iroisemba Lourembam Leikai.
All four of them have been allegedly detained in connection with cases related to narcotic substances.
In connection with the detention, a team of police personnel led by OC of City Police Munal picked up 15 other persons including the general secretary of AMADA for interrogation.
Some of them were, however, set free afterward.
