Imphal, April 15:
Owing to the 24 hour general strike called by the JAC Against the Missing of Driver Salimudin and Arif today, many students were unable to appear their B Sc, B Com and BA papers.
separate statements issued by All Manipur Students' Union and Manipur Forward Youth Front demanded a special 're-examination' of the absentee candidates.
They also maintained that any eventuality arising out of denial of students to reappear in their exams should be borne by the State Government.
The statement issued by AMSU urged the Governments of Manipur and Nagaland to trace the missing driver and the student and avert any untoward incident as a consequence of their indifference to the issue.
On the other hand, MAFYF slammed the State Government for its irresponsible attitude who wake up to all major issues only when the people pursue solutions of the issues with statewide and violent agitation.
Militaristic approach of the State Government to all democratic agitation by people is a clear manifestation that democracy in its pure sense is still a far cry in the State, condemned MAFYF.
It also noted that the people of Manipur have to struggle even for the most basic 'right to live'.
