Imphal, December 10: Taking serious note of the ongoing blockade imposed by the Jiribam District Demand Committee along NH-53, specially blockade of passengers buses bound for different locations like Tamenglong, Nungba, Noney etc, the Zeliangrong Youth Front, Nungba Zone observed that such prolonged agitation might be detrimental to the peaceful atmosphere as the people of Tamenglong district may find it hard to bear the brunt any longer.

A statement issued by ZYF noted that the blockade has been causing untold miseries to the people of the district even though the Christmas festival is coming up.

Saying that Zeliangrong people never oppose conversion of Jiribam to a revenue district provided some parts of Tamenglong District Forest Division currently under Jiribam Forest Division is merged with the former prior to creation of Jiribam district, it expressed strong reservation against the victimisation of the people of Tamenglong while demanding something from the State even though the demand is legitimate.

The ZYF, Nungba Zone further appealed to all right thinking people to intervene in the matter.
