Speaking at the gathering, CLP leader O Ibobi said that the BJP Government has been violating the fundamental rights of citizens since it came to power.
BJP has been deceiving the citizens and even stole votes to capture power, he said.
BJP won the last Lok Sabha election and Assembly elections of some States like Maharashtra arid Karnataka because it colluded with the ECI, he alleged.
By manipulating the ECI which should remain autonomous, BJP has been violating the country's constitution, Ibobi said.
He said that the Congress party has been undertaking the signature campaign to save the country's constitution and democracy.
Taking strong exception to the BJP Government's refusal to hold local body elections including Autonomous District Councils, Panchayats and Municipal Councils for a prolonged period and installing their own hand-picked men as administrators of the local bodies, Ibobi said that people are fully aware of how BJP has been violating the basic principles of democracy.
People will surely teach them a befitting lesson, Ibobi added.
