Imphal, November 07 2009:
A meeting of the SPF Legislature Party has resolved to work jointly on resumption of normal classes from November 9 .
The meeting held at the office chamber of the Chief Minister at about 3 pm today deliberated on the current issue of denying education to students.
According to a press release issued by SPF spokesperson N Biren, the meeting agreed on making further attempts by the Government to hold talks with the agitating organisations.
The meeting resolved that the Government should take up concrete measures to avert any disturbance or unwanted incidents in re-opening schools and colleges.
For this, Superintendents of Police of the valley districts have been instructed to enhance patrolling exercises and to ensure that educational institutions are secure.
The meeting also decided to appeal to the student bodies calling the class boycott to cooperate towards bringing a solution through dialogue with the Government, without interrupting education any further.
It also appealed to members of all political parties and all sections of people to cooperate in the Govt's efforts to re-open shut down schools and colleges.
It further appealed to guardians and parents to send students to schools from November 9.The meeting also appreciated the dialogue held between the Government and the agitating organisations as well as attempts to hold further talks.
Meanwhile, taking serious note of the stand off and confrontational positions adopted DESAM on one side and the AMSU, MSF and KSA on another side over the issue of class boycott, the Senior Citizens for Society has appealed to both the sides to avoid confrontation.
It also appealed to the Government, the Apunba Lup, AMSU, MSF, KSA and the JAC's of Rabina and Sanjit to work out a solution by retracting their positions a little so that students can attend class.
The Senior Citizens For Society also conveyed its desire for the Government to take up legal action against those involved in July 23 incident.
By doing so, an agreement can be reached between the two sides, it exuded.
Taking legal actions against those involved in the incident would also help in the Judicial enquiry, it asserted.
The Senior Citizens for Society also lamented the inability to hold further talks between the Government and the agitating organisations.
