Imphal, June 07: A suspected underground activist of the proscribed PREPAK was killed during a shoot out with a combined force of 15 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry and Bishnupur Police Commandos at Ngachoupokpi under Bishnupur Police Station at around 2.30 am today.

The slain activist has been identified as Thokchom Naothoi alias Brucelee (22) s/o of Th Bidhu of Thinungei Mamang Mayai Leikai.

According to police source, he was an activist of the proscribed PREPAK.

One 7.65 M pistol, one magazine and one live round of ammunition have also been reportedly recovered from his possession.

His body bearing multiple bullet marks has been picked up by the police and deposited at the mortuary of RIMS.

On the other hand, the body of Potsangbam Joy (36) of Laipham Khunou Mayai Leikai who was shot dead by unidentified gunmen near his house last night has been taken by his family members after post mortem at RIMS mortuary this morning.

Meanwhile, 15 JK Light Infantry reportedly handed over a private of the proscribed RPF arrested from Ngaikhong Khunou yesterday to the custody of the police today.

The arrested activist is identified as Loukrakpam Navy s/o Tomba of Irom Meijrao.

One injured in firing : One Md Abdul Kalam (26) of Kwakta Awang Leikai was injured in the right palm when some unidentified group of armed men fired 4/5 rounds yesterday at about 5 pm.

Md Abdul Kalam was going to paddy fields together with another youth Md Abdul Malik (16) of the same locality to check water level.
