A 34 year old mother of four was yesterday lynched to death at Bijang village allegedly by five men believed to be members of an armed outfit.
The body of Hoineu Kuki, which bore severe torture marks, was retrieved this morning by the local police near the family lane down stream.
According to sources the husband of the deceased Saul Kuki is presently an inmate in Shalom Rehabilitation Centre, Muolvaiphei in the company of their eldest daughter.
It was not known why Hoineu was subjected to such rigorous punishment.
The body was later handed over to her family members after examination.
One shot dead : A youth was shot dead by some unidentified men at around 7:45 pm yesterday at Heikrujam Maning Leikai, 5 kms North West of Nambol PS.
According to information received here, the deceased was brought to the spot by four unidentified persons on a Bajaj Pulsar and an NV Scooter at around 7.40 pm yesterday.
Nambol Police have retrieved the body and deposited it at RIMS mortuary today morning.
The unidentified deceased wore a black T shirt with a picture of tiger on the chest, blue jeans and his ears were not pierced.
Bullet marks were observed on the head and chest parts.
Police also recovered an empty case of .32 calibre from the spot.
Inside a wallet recovered from the deceased, four passport photographs which looked like the deceased himself and two bus tickets for a to and fro journey between Imphal and Shillong were found.
The ticket was booked under the name of one David.
According to the tickets, the deceased left for Shillong on October 31 by Seven Sister Travels and returned to Imphal on Nov 1 by Royal Rajdhani.
Suspecting that the deceased might be one David of Machi village under Tengnoupal sub-division, some villagers came the morgue but they could not confirm the identity.
