Imphal, April 01: A 29 year old man was found dead today at around 10.30 am at Maring Lane (Nongpok Ingkhol) under Porompat police station.

The deceased is identified as Sangleichung of Kasom Khullen.

He was a grade IV employee in the Social Welfare Department.

Injury marks were observed on his back.

The bady was handed over to family members after post mortem at RIMS today.

One killed in mishap: A motor cycle borne man succumbed to injuries at Shija Hospital after he was hit by a car at Keirao Thongranbi under Irilbung police station yesterday at about 1 pm.

The mishap victim is identified as Thingujam Borkishore (60) of Yairipok Thongkhong.

A case was registered in Irilbung PS in connection with the incident.

One shot at: In connection with a reported monetary demand, one Amkhanmang Paite (46) of Phaimol village under Parbung police station of Churachandpur district was shot at the right thigh by 4/5 unidentified persons at about 1 am today.

However, family members of the victim managed to snatch a country made pistol from the assailants.

The seized pistol was handed over to Borobekra police station.

According to the victim, he overpowered one of the armed men who forcefully entered his house and snatched his gun but another fired a round which hit his right thigh.

The gunshot alerted the neighbouring villagers.

However the armed men managed to flee from the scene, adds our Jiri correspondent.

The injured victim has been taken to Silchar for treatment.
