In addition to conducting complicated reconstructive surgery on five patients, Dr Mukund R Thatte Mch of Bombay Hospital, Mumbai addressed sessions of orthopaedic surgeons during his recent four day stay in the State, informed a statement issued by the Director of Catholic Medical Centre, Koirengei.
according to the CMC statement, the renowned surgeon of the country and South East Asia Dr Mukund carried out 'very complicated' reconstructive surgery on five patients suffering from paralysis of the upper limb due to injury at birth and fracture of the collar bone and injury of Brachial Plexus with gratifying results.
A case of Brachial Plexus injury of five year old Master Ksh Twinkly s/o ksh Nityananda of Kakching has been successfully reconstructed through a highly advanced surgical procedure conducted by a team of CMC doctors led by Dr Mukund and Dr L Ibobi Singh (HoD Orthopaedics CMC), informed the Director and explained that the operation involved transfer of tendon or muscles of the limb.
Dr Mukund is also informed to have addressed on 'obstetric brachial plexus injury and its management' to a gathering of paediatricians, gynaecologists, plastic, general and orthopaedic surgeons at the CMC seminar hall while on March 29 the renowned surgeon lectured on 'hand injuries' at the Officers' Club premise where members of Associations of Surgeons, manipur State Chapter were present.
