Imphal, November 08:
Although the Government has paved the way to release the salaries for the month of October to employees of Secretariat, Power, Agriculture, DIPR, AG, etc, the employees have not got their pay as there is no money in the banks.
Following complaints from the aggrieved employees that their salaries have not been entered into the respective accounts as the computers of the banks are not working, The Sangai Express investigated the matter and found out that the salaries of the employees had been stalled for no other reasons other than lack of adequate money in the banks.
However, the salaries of officers and other big shots are being withdrawn without any hitch.
When this reporter personally approached the Accountant of the SBI Branch at Manipur Secretariat today, the Accountant informed that around Rs 14 crores are withdrawn every month from the bank as salaries by the employees.
After withdrawing Rs 7 crores as salaries of top officials of some Departments including the Police Department this month, some more than Rs 6 crores which are remaining in the bank account is not enough to meet the salaries of the remaining employees, the Accountant said, adding that he cannot not say when the remaining required amount would come.
The bank faces similar difficulties at the time of releasing the salaries of the employees every month, he disclosed.
Despite the claim of not having enough money at the bank, however, it was noticed that the Ministers and other top bureaucrat officials continued to withdraw their money from the bank without any difficulty.
