Imphal, October 03:
Urging the people and the Heads of Departments not to entertain any monetary demands served by the KNO/KNA within the operational areas of the Kuki National Front, the KNF today asked the KNA to respect the Memorandum of Understanding reached between the two outfits.
In a statement, the secretary of information and publicity of KNF, LH Stephen said that the MoU was signed in late October in 2004 at the level of the home secretary of both sides.
Outlining the finer points of the MoU, KNF said that it was agreed that both the organisations should respect each others' operational territory and both would not violate it without the consent and prior permission of the other.
It was also agreed that both the organisations would abstain from carrying out financial donations/demands and fund raising activities in each other operational areas without prior consent, said KNF.
The MoU also envisaged that the agreements reached will hold true and be in effect till further talk and agreement is reached between the two organisations, added the statement.
Keeping in mind the MoU, the KNF urged the KNO/KNA to abstain from serving monetary demands in their areas of operation and not to violate the MoU for peace and prosperity.
KNF also urged the KNO/KNA to respect the sentiments of the people of the area and not torture innocent people if they care for the suffering and hardships of the people.
KNA should abstain from activities that may create rift and bloodshed among the Kuki people, added the outfit.
