Imphal, January 14: The DC of Senapati T Panmei has taken up stern action against the Heads of Departments (HoD) who failed to turn up for the DLO meeting held today at his office chamber.

The meeting was convened to discuss necessary arrangements for Republic Day celebration but many HoDs failed to turn up for the meeting.

Depts like CEO, District Council, DO, Horticulture & Soil Conservation, DSO/FCS, GM/DIC, EE/PWD, EE/Electricity and some others failed to turn up despite prior notification, said T Pamei, DC, Senapati.

Making his displeasure known, the DC has locked up all the above offices and has pasted show cause notices on the office door warning them not to open them without prior permission.

T Pamei, DC, when contacted said that he had been trying to ensure regular attendance of the district officers by persuasion but the HoDs have repeatedly failed to heed the instruction.

Further, the DC also said that he would write to the Government for necessary disciplinary action against the erring officials.

It is also learned that the DC had ordered the HoDs to submit their Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs), wherein adverse remarks could be entered.

The employees are being paid to perform their duties and those who are not doing their job should not be paid their salary said the DC.

For ensuring that, DC have instructed the Treasury Officer, Senapati not to clear any bills including salary bill put up by the absenting departments.

Further, two weeks time has been given to the departments to take up strict disciplinary action against those absentees.

It may be added that many departments in the district failed to perform their annual plan work accordingly for the public interest.
