The executive committee meeting of CPI, Manipur State Committee held today at the Irabot Bhavan has resolved to launch a State wide campaign to defeat BJP and its allies during the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections likely to be held in April end.
Beginning from 11 am the over six hour long brain storming deliberation presided by CPI State Control Commission chairman Moirangthem Ibohal was also attended among others by FCS Minister Ph Parijat, IFC Minister N Mangi, MoS (IFC) Th Tomba and CPI State Secretary B Sharma.
After a thorough discussion on the possible Lok Sabha elections, the meeting resolved to begin political awareness campaign with active participation of members of all the CPI local council from February month onwards to ensure defeat of BJP and its NDA partners.
The executive session terming the BJP and its allies as communal party also resolved to install a secular Government at the Centre to not only strengthen democracy in the country but protect territorial integrity of Manipur.
CPI sources also revealed that FCS Minister Ph Parijat will represent the State unit at the January 28-29 party's national executive committee meeting at Hyderabad where State issues pertaining to prevailing political situation and protection of Manipur's territorial integrity.
Steps to subdue the Opposition DPA charges against the SPF Govt during the forthcoming Assembly session also figured prominently in today's meeting that also decided to issue necessary instructions to party MLAs for adequate preparation to stave off the Opposition onslaughts.
Replying to a query B Sharma stated that question of a CPI candidate for the coming Lok Sabha polls has not been discussed yet neither has the ruling partner Cong initiated a move on the matter.
