Imphal, December 09 2009: Revised wages of the labours are likely to effect before the employees of the state government get the pay structures recommended by the 6th Pay Commission.

State Wage Board has recommended the revised wages.

As per a decision of a recently held meeting of the State Wages Board, wage of an unskilled labour was fixed from Rs 100 to Rs 125, for semi-skilled labour from Rs 115 to Rs 135 while that of skill labour from Rs 125 to Rs 145 .

The board also recommended hiking the wages of the workers of the Central sponsored National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) at Rs 185 per day, official source said.

The recommendation of the wage board will be tabled to a meeting of the state Cabinet at the earliest.

If the Cabinet approved the recommendation, the revised rate of wages is likely to in force in the next one to two months.

Labours will enjoy revised wages first before the implementation of the revised 6th pay of the employees, the source believed.

With regard to the hiking of the wage of the NREGS workers, the source from the state labour department said Assam government had already issued notification for hiking the wages of the NREGS in August this year.

Earlier, Assam government divided the NREGS into three category-skill, semi-skill and unskilled and pay wages as Rs 110, Rs 105 and 100 respectively.

The government is also planning to provide 75 percent dearness allowance.

On the other hand, Manipur government is paying Rs 88.40 per workers.

The wages are paid as per the rate fixed by the state labour department.

As such skill labours are getting Rs 88.40 while semi-skill labours and unskilled are getting Rs 86.65 and Rs 81.40 respectively.

None so far lodged complaint about low payment of wages.

Workers are working as per the wages fixed by the implementing agencies as per guidelines of the NREGA.
