Imphal, August 20 2010: State Cabinet today approved to 50% increase in the minimum wage of unskilled and semi-skilled and skilled workers from the existing rate while revising the dearness and travelling allowances of the government employees which felt need since the implementation of the sixth pay band of the Central government in the state.

The cabinet meeting held in the evening today at the Cabinet room of the Chief Minister's Secretariat under the chair of the chief minister, O Ibobi has approved the revised rates of minimum wages of workers and DA and TA of the government servants, a source from a Cabinet minister disclosed.

The Cabinet approved to a proposal of the state labour department 50 percent increases to the minimum wages of the unskilled and semi-skill workers.

Currently the minimum wages of the unskilled worker is Rs 81.40 and Rs 86.65 for the semi-skilled worker.

While that of skilled worker is Rs 88.40 .

While discussing on the revised TA and DA of the government employees which have been necessitate since the government agreed implementation of recommendation of the 6th Pay Commission to its employees, the Cabinet approved to the hike the non-practicing allowance (NPA) of the doctors from the existing 15% of the basic pay to 25 percent.

The basic minimum pay of the employees on contract basis will also be increased from the existing Rs 2550 to 4440.The grade pay will be Rs 5700 by adding Rs 1300 to the basic pay.

While the maximum basic pay which is Rs 12,000 will also be increased to Rs 15,600 and after adding 7600 grade pay, employees on contract basis will be Rs 23,200 per month.

The travelling allowance of the government employees will be calculated as per the grade they are employing.

The postal allowance will be hike from Rs 30 to Rs 60 .

The cabinet also approved in enhancing the washing allowances of the employees in uniform services from Rs 30 to Rs 60 per month.

The medical allowance of the pensioners of the state government will also be hiked to Rs 300 from the existing Rs 100 .

Enhancing of secretariat duty allowances at the rate of Rs 1000 and 10 percent according to the grades of the employees has also been approved by the Cabinet, the source said adding that the family planning allowance will also be hiked to Rs 210 per month.

Today's Cabinet also resolved to recommend the Governor for prologue of the recently concluded 8th session of the ninth Assembly session, the source added.
