Union Minister of State for Rural Development Agatha K Sangma strongly banks on the North East resources and the government's pro-active role as means that can make the region match with the mainland.
Agatha Sangma during an informal chat prior to the lunch session in Shillong she hosted for journalists today said that New Delhi will push enough funds to tap the ample resources in the region, but the respective government should also play a pro-active role to utilize the funds and resources.
Stressing on the importance to enhance monitoring vigilance as the centre has a number of schemes for the North East, Sangma said, "With proper implementation the region would experience flexibility in rural development".
Agatha Sangma said as rural development schemes are performance based schemes speedy submission of utilization certificates by respective governments in the North East is essential.
While the North East has to improve work quality for the interest of the region there has to be coordination between the state and the central governments for fostering all-round development, she added.
Agatha Sangma also said that in order to bridge the urban and the rural areas the rural development ministry will also formulate a concept of involving youths in development of the north east.
