Imphal, December 15 2010: A 10-day Imphal Book Fair 2010 organised by state Central Library in collaboration with Raja Rammohan Roy Foundation, Kolkata has commenced from today at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound.

In all books of wide range of choices, including from publication firms of Kolkata, Delhi and Guwahati, are being put on display at 32 stalls.

The Fair's inaugural programme was held with Health Minister Ph Parijat, Art and culture Director K Sobita Devi and Patsoi AC MLA Sapam Kunjakeshore Singh as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

After lighting the ceremonial lamp, the dignitaries walked round the stalls and picked/purchased books of their choice.

In address as the chief guest, Minister Parijat expressed desire that such a Fair be organised at other districts also so as to promote book reading habits among the interested ones.

on the second day tomorrow, a discussion session on literary works of the State writers as well as release of books by local authors would be held.
