Imphal, November 15 2008: SINCE THE launching of issue of smart system in driving license and registration books on November 2 last, state transport department has issued around 600 smart cards, official said today.

In a special interaction with Hueiyen Lanpao, Imphal west district transport officer M Sunil said with the launching of issue of smart cards in the district more than 50 duplicate driving licenses and 31 RC books have been issued in the form of smart cards.

Around 500 RC books for the newly buy vehicles have also been issued, he said adding that for the time being conversion of RC book into smart card form could not be taken up by his office, he said.

The SDO further said that a person seeking smart card need Rs 375 for processing for RC book the four wheelers vehicles and Rs 365 for the two and three wheeler vehicles.
