Imphal, January 06 2010: Appealing safe and sound release of the Minor Irrigation Department's Sub Division-I (Thoubal) SO namely G Manisana Sharma of Charangpat Makha Bengi, a sit-in-protest was organised in front of the Department's head office from morning till late afternoon today.

G Manisana was reportedly abducted by armed activists suspected to belong to the PULF (MI Khan) group on January 4 morning while he was on his way to office.

Meanwhile, a statement issued by the All Manipur Minor Irrigation Department Employees' Association has clarified that G Manisana had neither received demand note nor had any enmity with armed group/s.While appealing to the armed group, if any, involved in the abduction of G Manisana to spell out the reason the Association also urged all concerned to release SO G Manisana on humanitarian ground and taking into account mental trauma being endured by the family with the abduction of the SO.
