Imphal, September 29:
A meeting of top officials of the Works Department today discussed the issue related to acquisition of Patta land for the purpose of the proposed expansion of the three National Highways namely NH-39, NH-53 and NH-150.After a thorough discussion, the meeting held in the office chamber of the Chief Engineer of the Department decided to submit a proposal to the Revenue Department in this regard.
It may be noted here that the Government is planning to expand the stretch of NH-39 from Imphal to Pallel by 15 metres on either side from the central line.
Assuming that the width of the road at present is 12 metres, the Works Department is to take up necessary measures to increase the width of the road to 30 metres by acquiring 9 metres more on either side.
The Government is also proposing to expand the stretch of the NH-53 from Imphal to Oriental College point by acquiring land on either side to take the width of the road to 30 metres.
However, efforts would be made to leave out the Thangapat of Bijoy Govinda at Sagolband from the road expansion drive.
As for NH-150, the stretch of the road from Keishampat to Airport is to be widen to 38 metres for which efforts would be made to acquire land for getting 19 meters on either side of the road from the road median.
PDA had already issued an order in this connection.
Meanwhile, a joint meeting of the local residents of Keishampat Leimajam Leikai has been convened on Oct 2 at 8 am to discuss the land acquisition move of the Govt.
