Imphal, October 27:
The unification of regional parties in the State was not in pursuit of power but to save Manipur, said MPP president Dr L Chandramani.
Speaking at the first workers' conference of the enlarged MPP at the home of ex-MLA of Khangabok A/C A Jatra today, Chandramani declared that there should be no doubt against the resolution of MPP to safeguard Manipur which is constituted by patriotic people.
Asserting that National parties have no consideration for regional or State issues, Chandramani alleged that national parties were only concerned in protecting the unity of India while deliberately sidelining various issues plaguing the State.
As such, it would not be right to look up to National parties to serve the interest of the State, he noted.
The alleged conspiracy being pursued by the Union Government to pacify a group by dismembering Manipur while keeping intact the boundary of India necessitated the formation a strong regional political force, disclosed the MPP president.
Other leaders addressing the conference also harped on the same argument that the integrity of Manipur might be compromised if people vote for National parties.
While cautioning people not to put faith in National parties, they asked the people to cast their votes in favour of regional parties.
