Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Gaikhangam has expressed confidence that the party would win both the forthcoming by-elections to the Khangabok and Khundrakpam Assembly Constituencies.
Addressing the gathering at the flag hoisting ceremony of Congress candidate of Khangabok AC Landhoni Devi at Thoubal Athokpam today, Gaikhangam highlighted the achievements of the Congress-led Governments both at the Centre and the State during the last couple of years.
Assessing the people's understanding of the political situation in the State, Gaikhangam said "In the by-elections to both the Khangabok and Khundrakpam Assembly Constituencies, the voters will back the Congress.
Victory is ours." Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh who also spoke at the occasion assured that the SPF Govt would vigorously pursue its policy of speedy development of the State.
All round development of the State is the only solution to the problems being faced today, he maintained.
Various Congress party members and a large number of people of Khangabok AC attended the function.
The flag hoisting ceremony of Congress candidate of Khundrakpam AC Th Lokeshwar will be held at Sagolmang tomorrow.
On the other hand, the first meeting of the Sadar Hills District Youth Congress Committee was held at the residence of ex-Minister Ngamthang Haokip yesterday.
The meeting attended by MPYCC chief L Tilotama and other office bearers adopted two resolutions to strengthen the party organisation especially in the hill areas, informed DYCC Sadar Hills president M Lungtu Thangal in a statement today.
