Imphal, August 20 2010: Doctors working under the Manipur Health Services and Veterinary Department would get 25 per cent non-practising allowance, as per a Cabinet decision adopted today.

A senior Minister of the SPF Government informed that a Cabinet meeting held this evening with the Chief Minister in the chair agreed to give 25 per cent of basic pay as NPA to doctors which would be added to the basic pay.

Dearness Allowance would be calculated based on the basic pay which is inclusive of the 25 per cent NPA.

The Cabinet meeting also deliberated on raising the basic pay of employees including contract employees.

Increment of TA for employees according to grade pay, increment of cycle allowance from Rs 30 per month to Rs 60 per month and increment of washing allowance for uniform employees from Rs 30 per month to Rs 60 per month were okayed by the Cabinet.

It also gave consent to raise the medical allowance of pensioners from Rs 100 per month to Rs 300 per month.

Department cashiers would be entitled to Rs 75 if they handle cash up to Rs 50,000 per month.

They would get Rs 300 if they handle Rs 10 lakhs or more per month.

The Cabinet meeting further agreed to give 10 per cent of their respective pay scales as duty allowance to employees of the Manipur Secretariat Services.

As all these allowances would be paid in accordance with the recommendations of the 6th Pay Commission, the new arrangements and increments would be effective from April 1, 2010 .

The Cabinet meeting also gave its nod to hike the basic pay of contract employees.

Minimum basic pay of Rs 2550 would be raised to Rs 4440.To this amount, grade pay amount of Rs 1300 would be added, totalling to Rs 5740 .

The highest basic pay of Rs 12000 would be increased to Rs 15600 together with the corresponding grade pay amount of Rs 7600 which would be Rs 23,200 in aggregate.

The enhanced basic pay would be implemented from April 1 this year.

After discussing the agenda raised by the Labour and Employment Department for raising wages of labourers, the Cabinet agreed to increase the daily wages by 50 per cent, both for skilled and unskilled labourers.

At present unskilled and skilled labourers are entitled to Rs 81.40 and Rs 86.65 respectively as daily wages.

The Cabinet, during the meeting, also agreed to prorogue the 8th session of the 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly, which was held recently.
