Imphal, February 20, 2010: Phungyar Assembly Constituency MLA Wungnaoshang Keishing said he will not participate at the golden jubilee celebration of the Phungyar Tribal Development Block.

Interacting with some newspersons this afternoon, the independent MLA said as he was neither consulted in advance on the programme nor taken into confidence with regard to other details of the celebration, scheduled for February 27 at the SDO/BDO office complex, decision has been taken to stay away from the celebration.

Opining that sidelining him during prepration of the celebration is akin to undermining his status as the representative of the Assembly Constituency and its peope, Wungnaoshang also alleged that plot is being hatched by the ruling Government in collusion with certain Congress party leaders to draw political mileage from the event.

He also informed that an invitation card was received only yesterday to participate at the celebration which would also be attended by the Chief Minister, Rajya Sabha MP, SPF Ministers and MLAs.

Further contending that neither the Ukhrul district Deputy Commissioner nor the SDO concerned had apprised him earlier on the forthcoming golden jubilee celebration, the MLA said such callous attitude of the district officials has compelled him to decide against participation at the celebration function.

Opining that Rajya Sabha MP Rishang Keishing, who is also from the same AC as the peeved MLA, and other Congress party leaders have deliberately sidelined him to draw political mileage, Wungnaoshang also said the DC and the SDO being a party to the political ploy cannot be ruled out.

Describing as unfair and despicable political conspiracy on the MLA being not taken into confidence, he reiterated the decision not to join the celebration.
