No let up in bomb attacks, 11 more, including an IED recovered CorCom issues supplementary list

Imphal, January 20, 2012:: At least 11 bombs including an IED were recovered from different parts of valley districts while residences of five Congress workers of Khurai AC were attacked with bombs by unidentified persons.

CorCom has claimed responsibilities for the bomb attacks.

On the other hand, the CorCom, has issued a supplementary list of Congress workers and supporters in line with its decision to boycott the Congress party in the coming election.

The list issued today named 138 in Oinam AC, 15 in Jiribam AC, 20 in Uripok AC, 31 in Lilong AC, 21 in Heingang AC, 42 in Wangkhei AC, 54 in Wangkhem AC, 2 in Keishamthong AC, 79 in Heirok AC, 58 in Hiyanglam AC, 19 in Lamshang AC, 11 in Konthoujam AC, 55 in Mayang Imphal AC, 25 in Thongju AC, 11 in Kumbi AC, 15 in Bishnupur AC, 12 in Moirang AC, 50 in Nambol AC, 18 in Kakching AC, 3 in Kshetrigaon AC, 12 in Khurai AC, 11 in Sekmai AC, 53 in Sugnu AC, 60 in Thangmeiband AC, 42 in Khangabok AC, 3 in Patsoi AC and 2 in Singjamei AC.

Police source said that a hand grenade which failed to go off was recovered today morning from the residence of Dr Ng Bijoy, an INC candidate of Khurai AC.

In other similar incidents, four hand grenades which were suspected to lobbed last midnight by unidentified persons were also located at the residences of Takhelmayum Kenedy (25) of Khurai Chingangbam Leikai, Telem Kirankumar (40) of Khurai Chaithabi Leirak, Chandam Manimohon, Ng Meghachandra (45) alias Borajao and Yanglem Bhisma of Khurai Chingangbam Leikai.

In connection with the attacks, Dr Ng Bijoy condemned the incident as politically influenced.

He, on behalf of Khurai AC Development, Central and Steering Committees, appealed to all concerned not to attack his supporters in future.

Meanwhile, Khongman Zone V residence of one Kshetrimayum Aken (56) was attacked with a hand grenade last night.

The bomb which was lobbed by some unidentified persons exploded on the roof of the house but there were no casualties.

Another hand grenade which failed to go off was also recovered from Aken's residence today morning.

In another incident, police also recovered a hand grenade from the residence of Wangjam Premjit located at Uchekon Takhok Mapal today morning.

Meanwhile, an IED which was planted at the residence of MPP candidate of Kshetrigao AC, AR Khan was also found today morning.

Bomb expert team of Manipur police picked-up the IED today.

Another hand grenade which failed to explode was found at the residential gate of one Thokchom Kala (40) of Sawombung Thongkhong Awang Leikai under Lamlai AC.

Police also recovered a grenade from Sagolband Khamnam Leirak residence of one Soibam Ibomcha today morning.

Meanwhile, the residence of one Haji Iyajuddin (68) of Lilong Turel Ahanbi was attacked with hand grenade last night.
