Imphal, Sep 19:
Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South) Major General BK Chengappa has asserted that no camps of unlawful organisations (UGs) exist in Manipur at present.
Some UG camps were in existence in some hilly locations but they have been destroyed, said the IG in response to queries raised by some media persons from Kolkata at the IG AR (S) headquarters in Mantripukhri where a reception programme for the visiting scribes was hosted by the IG.
The Kolkata scribes arrived at Imphal as part of a three day tour of the North Eastern region conducted under the sponsorship of Eastern Command of the Indian Army.
The IG also iterated that the ceasefire between the Centre and NSCN (IM) does not cover Manipur.
