Imphal, November 18:
The people of Manipur would believe Congress party's claim that it would safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur only if the AICC president Sonia Gandhi dares to rescind the agreement signed with the United Naga Council (UNC) in 1972 during her forthcoming visit to the State, said MPP vice-president O Joy.
As per the agreement signed with UNC, the Congress party has no objection to the Naga unification move and according to the Congress, the Naga unification movement was neither anti-National nor anti-Constitutional, Joy stated.
Speaking at a political conference today at Nagamapal Paonam Leikai, the MPP leader observed that the agreement was a standing reminder that the Congress party would raise no objection against any attempt to dismember Manipur.
Asserting that the main agenda of the peace talk between NSCN (IM) and the Government of India is dismemberment of Manipur, Joy declared that this issue is the principal challenge of MPP.
He further inferred that giving votes to Congress is akin to granting them the right to alter the map of Manipur.
Saying that repeal of AFSPA 1958 is another primary agenda of MPP, Joy questioned the sincerity of SPF Government when it repealed the notorious Act from seven Assembly segments even as they were claiming that they did not have the power to repeal the Act.
Even as the Congress party had failed to fulfil the long standing demand of the people, Joy assured that MPP would repeal the Act in toto from all over the State.
He added that MPP would not wait for consent either from the Parliament or the Union Government.
Concerning the murder of Binoy, Joy alleged that the killing was an act of State terrorism.
He said that commandos were not bound by the law of the country, including the Supreme Court.
The political conference was also attended by MPP leaders Dr L Chandramani, Dr Nimaichand Luwang, RK Anand, former MEELAL president Chingsubam Akaba.
The conference was presided by the MPP Uripok Kendra president K Babudhon.
Speaking on the occasion, RK Anand taking a dig at the assurance of Congress to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur, questioned as to why the Congress did not make any attempt to amend Article 3 of the Indian Constitution which permits alteration of State boundaries within the Indian Union.
He further went on to accuse the Congress party for the plethora of issues besetting the State including the issue of integrity, AFSPA 1958, insurgency etc.
