Imphal, February 18, 2010: In a remarkable exploit, Imphal West District Police have nabbed 11 cadres of KCP (Lamphel group) including two directly involved in firing attack at the residence of Dr Kangujam Nillachandra and delivery of extortion notes.

The 11 cadres were apprehended in the course of investigation launched after the firing incident at the residence of Head of Orthopaedic Department, JN Hospital Dr Nillachandra at Sega Road, Khwairakpam Leikai on January 31, said Imphal West SDPO S Ibomcha.

Police investigation done under the supervision of Imphal SSP L Kailun revealed that the attack was carried out under the command of one Sougrakpam Nelson alias Sushil Meitei of Keishampat Jailor Leirak.

In the first instance, two KCP cadres were pulled up from Langthabal Khoupum on February 9.They are Thongbam Sanjoy alias Ibochouba (36) s/o Biren and Thongbam Joychandra alias Bhabi (38) s/o Brajabihari, both belonging to Kakwa Lamdaibung.

Acting on their disclosure, two other cadres of the same outfit directly involved in the firing attack at Dr Nillachandra's home were pulled up.

They have been identified as Thongam Bung Bung alias Bung (30) s/o Jatra of Kwakeithel Thounaojam Leikai and Potshangbam Alexander alias Alex alias Aupa s/o late Iboyaima of Keishamthong Hodam Leirak.

Further, Imphal West police apprehended Laishram Ningol Thoidingjam ongbi Puspa alias Bebe (31) w/o Thoidingjam Sachin of Singjamei Chanam Pukhri Mapal, Laishram Bikram alias Bung (24) of Sega Road, Khwairakpam Leikai, Phurailatpam Andy (28) of Sega Road, Konjeng Hazari Leikai, Takhellembam Roshan alias Wahong (40) of Sagolband Nepra Menjor Leikai, Elangbam Jotish alias Hui (27) of Keishampat Leimajam Leikai, Sagolsem Shankar (34) of Sega Road, Khwairakpam Leikai and Laishram Romen (35) of Sagolband Meino Leirak.

Laishram Romen is said to be employee at IFCD.

All these 11 persons were involved in extortion, delivery of demand notes, collection of money and undertaking firing/bomb attacks in connection with extortion under the command of Sushil Meitei, said SDPO Ibomcha.

Some other cadres including mastermind Sushil, Bikram's elder sister Sharmila and Max alias Newton are still at large.

Sushil is commander of KCP (Lamphel)'s valley operation command unit-II.

Five extortion notes and nine mobile phone handsets have been recovered from the 11 apprehended individuals, added the SDPO.
