Imphal, April 15:
During a meeting of the selected graduate teachers held today at DM College of Science, a body christened "Appointment and Posting Demand Committee for Graduate Teachers 2006-07" was constituted to urge the State Government for prompt assignment of postings, conveyed a release.
The DPC results for the recruitment of graduate teachers was declared on December 19 last year.
Drawing the attention of the State Government concerning the prolonged delay in assigning postings, the Committee questioned the inordinate delay in the Department of Education (S) when candidates appointed in other Departments have been assigned their postings and made to join service already.
A memorandum urging to assign postings for the 663 selected graduate teachers at the earliest was also submitted to the Chief Minister today.
The selected graduate teachers demanding assignment of their postings went to the official residence of the Chief Minister today at about 3 pm.
However, they were blocked by police near Post Office.
As they were not allowed to meet the Chief Minister, they submitted a memorandum containing their demands to the Chief Minister through a police officer.
