Imphal, November 14: Asserting that CDPO Rasheshori Devi was awarded the capital punishment as part of its drive against corruption, the secretary of the military affairs of the KCP (MC), Lanheiba today said that Rasheshori defied the strictures passed by the outfit against declaring the results of the Social Welfare Dept without holding a DPC.

In a statement, Lanheiba said that the capital punishment awarded to Rasheshori should not be taken as a move of disregard or disrespect to the women community of Manipur and added that since the KCP (MC) respects women, it had urged the late CDPO not to announce the result.

Even emissaries were sent to convey the stand of the outfit and to extend her help in cleansing the rot within the Social Welfare Department, said the statement.

Giving details, the statement claimed that on November 13, when some cadres of the outfit went to meet her to urge not to declare the results as genuine, which was based on corruption, the CDPO used abusive language against the cadres through her personal mobile phone (9856271663).Despite the several requests of the outfit, the rest of the results were announced and pasted on the office of the CDPO today morning, alleged the statement.

Many calls were made to her to forgo the results, but she acted stubbornly and the outfit was left with no choice but to award her the death penalty, claimed the statement.

The ultimate responsibility for the death of the CDPO should be borne by the Social Welfare Minister N Loken and other officers who have taken refuge with security at the State Guest House, said the outfit and questioned whether they can be under security cover for the rest of their lives.

Instead of challenging the KCP (MC), will it not be better to right their wrongs ? countered Lanheiba and asserted that if the people wishes, KCP (MC) will abort its drive, but it will not tolerate discrimination and exploitation of the poor.

Shedding tears of sorrow for a person like Rasheshori will serve no purpose for like her Minister N Loken, she was also responsible for exploiting the weak and helpless in opening Anganwadi centres without even counting the number of helpers.

Sounding a stern warning, the outfit warned all not to organise protest or any agitation against the killing of the CDPO and added that if anyone defies this, then they (KCPMC) should not be blamed for setting off bombs in public places.

The statement further said that the outfit feels sorry for the security personnel deployed as escort for N Loken, who is the chief culprit and questioned whether these men can sacrifice their lives for such a corrupt man.

Or is it that India wants to protect corrupt elements ? Scoffing at the Government for protecting the corrupt, the outfit said that on the other hand it would start punishing all guilty and corrupt people.

To work for a better society and welfare for all, people like Rasheshori need to be eliminated, reasoned, the outfit and urged others not to follow her examples.

Since the Government has not even thought about removing a tainted Minister like N Loken, there can be guarantee that the Congress party would ultimately be rooted out from Manipur one day, asserted the outfit.

The KCP (MC) may also strike out at all Congress workers on the charge that they are not working for the welfare and development of the people, warned the statement.
